There are some ideas that border the line between genius and insanity. These might be some of them. We will be sharing a few unorthodox ideas on lead generation tactics while still being appropriate. So as much as you want to slide your business card over to the person in the bathroom stall next to you, that's not going to be on this list.
1. Tinder
Tinder is a great place to make connections. By no means should you go on any dating app with the intention of building your business. You should be a genuinely nice person looking to connect with others. Sometimes those connections can lead to romantic relationships, if not, at least you can have a meaningful friendship. A meaningful friendship is the easiest way to turn a person you know into a client, or a least somebody that sends referrals your way.
2. Uber/Lyft
Less controversial than using Tinder for real estate purposes, is being a driver for a rideshare service. We have covered this before in our agent insights features, and it has worked well for that particular agent. You are driving all around town anyway. You are having conversations with strangers. If it turns out they are looking for a new home, then why not take them on as clients too?
3. Craigslist
Craigslist is a great source for FSBO leads. It used to be all the rage after the Y2k bug proved to be a non-issue. They have been imposing more and more restrictions which has caused real estate agents to leave the platform. The lack of agents means there is less competition for you!
4. Set Up a "Lemonade Stand"
Inspired by Lucy's Psychiatry booth from Peanuts, you can set up shop anywhere there is high foot traffic. To ensure you aren't wasting your time, you can sit down in a coffee shop or library with your laptop open responding to emails. If you put a sticker on the back that says, "Free Real Estate Advice", you can have strangers approach you instead of the other way around!
