What Real Estate Agents Should be Thankful For, But Maybe Aren't

It’s important to always be thankful for what and who you have in your life, as well as the opportunities available to you. In Real Estate, there are several people to be grateful for - some are obvious and some are not so obvious.

What Real Estate Agents Should be Thankful for: the obvious and the not so obvious.

The Obvious:

Your ‘support’ team:

There's no doubt you should be thankful for your biggest supporters. Whether your support team is made up of your significant other, family or friends, they are always there for you during the good times and the bad. Make sure to stop and say, “Thank you for all you do”. Real estate can be a tumultuous industry with lots of difficulties, so make sure your biggest fans know they’re appreciated.

Your actual team:

We know you’re thankful for your team members as they are just as invested in the business as you are - but do you express it enough? People who feel appreciated are always willing to do more. Be sure to let them know you are grateful for them this season because this will not only strengthen your relationship with them, but will also positively influence team productivity and business growth.

The client who becomes your friend:

Successful businesses are built upon meaningful relationships. Therefore, if you’re in Real Estate, you probably enjoy being around and interacting with people. Nevertheless, those client relationships can develop into actual friendships. Make sure to let those friends know how happy you are to have had the chance to work with them and for becoming more than just your client.

The Not So Obvious:

The client who overshares:

As a Real Estate agent you work closely with your clients - so it’s not surprising when they open up to you about the good and the bad in their lives. While helping someone with one of the largest financial transactions in their life, you may see all types of emotions. This may not initially feel like something you should be grateful for, but it is because your clients feel comfortable and safe enough to open up to you.

The client that needs extra attention:

Sometimes a client needs extra attention or is a bit needier than most. You go the extra mile to provide them with the best service possible. While the relationship may have been tiresome or required longer hours, you should be thankful for their business and their trust in you.

Your unpredictable schedule:

Your career sometimes requires you to work odd hours. Your schedule can be all over the place depending on your client's availability. But, this also means you have a more flexible schedule that allows you to spend more time with your friends or family. As an agent, you can be thankful for being one of the lucky few professionals who can take a Tuesday off and go to the park (or the beach if you’re extra lucky!).

There are several things you should be grateful for as a Real Estate agent, but sometimes they are overlooked. These obvious and not so obvious things you should be thankful for are just a few.
