Have you ever asked why some agents are on top of their game and others seem to struggle? Which one are you? The differentiator is where you choose to spend your time, energy and resources.
Every real estate agent has an area that they find challenging. You can continue battling or ignoring it adding to your stress levels and impacting your bottom line. Or you can face your problem area head on and find an effective solution. The difference between a successful agent and one who feels stuck and lost is where each decides to focus their efforts.
Do you find yourself running around with no clear goal in mind, only to realize at the end of a day you haven’t accomplished much? It’s an on-going challenge for everyone. An agent on the roll is strategic with daily activities. If your productivity is lagging, ask yourself a question: “How much time did I spend on lead generation and nurturing last week / last month?” Another question to ask: “How much time did I spend out in the field helping serious buyers and sellers?” Face the truth and adjust accordingly.
Do you work smart? Do you save time by outsourcing repetitive tasks to your assistant or by automating them with the help of a CRM or free apps? Another person and/or CRM can help you schedule tasks and appointments, organize your database, process your paperwork, run email campaigns, send market reports to leads and remind you to follow up with clients.
Take time to recharge and relax too to avoid a burnout. It’s easy to let time slip through your fingers. A busy selling season stretches into an even more involved off-season of prospecting. The next thing you know, months have passed and you can’t remember when you last had a vacation or even a day off. A stressed out and burnt out agent can’t provide the best customer service.
A successful real estate agent is disciplined and strategic with their time. A struggling agent reacts to people and events and allows distractions to dominate their day. Oh, squirrel! Distractions are inevitable and come up all the time. It is up to you to control what you pay attention to and remain laser focused on achieving your top priorities. Start developing a habit of not checking email and fielding phone calls during your most productive time of a day. Spend this time on generating and converting your prospective clients.
No matter how long you’ve been a real estate agent; chances are there’s a task you want to get better at. Most real estate agents have one or two areas that frustrate them on a regular basis. Good news is you can approach any challenge with an action plan and you’ll be on your way to overcoming this obstacle in no time.
