So you have a real estate website and you added great content –
now how do you get traffic?
To effectively drive traffic to your site or blog, there are three key factors you need to consider:
- Desired Audience
- Website & Blog Post SEO
- Paid Promotion
Step One: Identify Your Target Audience
The most important step in driving relevant traffic to your blog site is to define what relevant means. To do so, you must first brainstorm a list of traits that describe your ideal buyer and/or seller. The resulting list of demographic characteristics can be used to build customer personas, which in turn can be used to help you generate content and promotional ideas. (Click here for more tips on how to create effective content). In other words, you need to figure out who you want to reach with your content and identify what traits to use to target them.
Step Two: Add Keywords to Posts & Pages
‘Keywords’ and ‘SEO’ may seem like buzzwords, but as long as Google rules the world (which I suspect will be the case for many years to come), it’s important to recognize that keywords are the building blocks for long-term visibility and success. These ‘building blocks’ impact traffic volume and quality, as well as your overall online presence in the eyes of the search engines. Once again, when brainstorming keywords to target, it comes down to considering how best to reach your leads. For a detailed example, download our free Traffic Optimization Guide.
Step Three: Promote Your Content on Social Media
After you publish a keyword optimized piece of content targeting the ideal lead you defined in Step 1, it’s time to promote your post or page on social media to help drive traffic.
Facebook allows you to affordably ‘Boost’ any post on your business page. You can define multiple levels of targeting options to make sure your post is reaching the right people. An example and help link can be found in our Traffic Optimization Guide.
Pro Tip:
Pay careful attention to your titles. A lame title won’t get clicks, but a riveting title that creates intrigue will promote sharing and send people to your site in hoards. This point is so important that it deserved its own blog post. Additionally, we’ve created a free blog title brainstorming worksheet to help you come up with great titles every time.
If you do only one of these three steps, you’ll probably get a little traffic. If you do all three of these steps on a consistent basis, you’ll see some pretty incredible results over time.
